High above most clouds, you might see thin, delicate streaks stretching across the sky.  
These are **cirrus clouds** — the highest and lightest clouds you’ll encounter.

Cirrus clouds form very high in the atmosphere:

👉 typically above **6–10 km**

At this height:
- the air is extremely cold
- water freezes instantly
